Shame is the emotion that helps you maintain your personal moral standards by resisting the inherent human vices.
Private shame - the personal feeling associated with an action that will never become public knowledge occurs due to personal moral standards but this probably has less effect on someones conduct than public shame that is often associated with social sanction. eg Exclusion from a golf club for cheating.

If you feel shame for a bad behavior or shame for getting caught, maybe that feeling of shame will keep you from doing it again. BUT people feel shame for things they shouldn't as well. Shame of things that were done to them, shame because someone made them feel ashamed of their bodies or whatever.... this shame has no use, it is a punishment for those that feel it...

Good Question - got me thinking!

Here go's-
I feel that we are essentially a tribal/social/pack animal. Shame kicks in to prevent us from repeating an action/behaviour which we feel would cause the rest of the pack to alienate us if they were to become aware of the action/behaviour. This alienation has the potential to leave us vulnrable.
Make sense?

To cause humanity to turn to God within our hearts. All the things you mention are but Gods unconditional love divided by the concept of duality into Mind and emotions. When one awakes to unity with God in unconditional love within their heart these things reunite into unconditional love. As the colors of the rainbow are contained within sunlight, so to all things are contained within Gods unconditional love. "God dwells within you as you."
