Cell division involves a single cell (called a mother cell) dividing into two daughter cells. This leads to growth in multicellular organisms (the growth of tissue) and to procreation (vegetative reproduction) in unicellular organisms.
I'm guessing because the single cell is called a mother cell and it divides into two cells which then become mothers themselves (and divide) then daughter cell is the most appropriate term.

i think that is was just called that because at the time they needed an synchronism so they use mother and daughter. Because the mother gives birth to the children which are genetically identical. However they reproduce by binary fusion one cell divides in to two smaller cells. Both of them share the contence equally including the DNA which is quite literally split down the middle.

Amoeba reproduce asexually, by mitosis. The next generation of amoeba are called daughter cells because they are genetically identical to the "mother cell" the term daughter is specifically used as it denotes their ability to multiply as in human society, it is the female who reproduces.

They are called daughter cells because they have the feminine characteristics of reproduction by another binary fission without sexual conjugation or eggs reproduction nor sperm reproduction.
