A 250 is best for a small person. My wife has a Virago 250 and she is small and has ridden with me on trips 250 miles one way. she can go 70 miles an hour easy enough since she is a small woman, bue we usually just take it easy at about 60 to 65 miles an hour, if traffic will allow it. On Interstates we use the right lane so people can pass.

She has ridden this bike 6 years now and I think she may be ready to upgrade.

You will wear out before the bike does. These light bikes are cramped for taller people, and they don't have enough weight to absorb highway-speed bumps very well. The bikes themselves will go anywhere, you'll just be ready for a rest when the tank runs to reserve. In town is where these bikes really become useful with nimble handling and easy scooting back & forth into parking spaces.

I've had big and small bikes, but my favorites have been the middle weights -- the Shadow VLX and Suzuki Savage (now called S40). I want to try a Sportster1200 next.

As far as you want, but around town is best ... it would be uncomfortable for a road trip. I personally took a Honda 200cc street bike down a dirt road at over 100 mph, and that was in the 70's.

Depends on your weight and body size. I am 1.92 meter tall (6'2") and weigh just over 250lbs. I couldn't ride that very far. If you are light and short you could ride that thing around the world comfortably. I know people who ride bikes that size all over Europe. As long as they don't spend too much time on the German autobahn trying to become a hood ornament.
