I have a B.A in Business, I was thinking about going to a city college and enroll in their nursing program. My question is how much would I get pay for an hour? Do I get paid at B.A level nursing or an A.S nursing?
Thank You

How much would you charge someone to change their diaper? What about watching someone die when you have done everything in your power to try to save their life? If your nurse gave you the wrong medication and you suffered an ill reaction how much would you sue her for?
Nurses do not get paid enough for the amount of responsibility they carry. It is a high stress job with mandatory over-time; we see the worst of human nature when a child comes into the ED sexually assaulted with their bowels protruding out of their anus. For the amount of responsibility and emotional trauma we suffer from patients, doctors, and family members (not to mention other nurses) the pay SUCKS! LOL!
It takes a special person to enter the medical field regardless of the pay. If you are the type of person who will continually sacrifice your sanity for another human and find peace in your own soul after coming home from seeing the ugliness of humanity than this job is for you!

There is no difference in starting pay between a nurse that has an associate's or a nurse that has a B.S. The only difference is advancement opportunities. It depends on what field of nursing that you would like to go into. If you would like to do case managment, clinical nursing, forensic nursing, or the manager of a unit at a hospital, then you would need a B.S. thus generating more starting pay. If your desire is to be a regular staff nurse, ED nurse, L&D nurse, or office nurse than it doesn't matter what type of degree you have, as long as you pass the nursing boards.
