Someone said 'BLACK'. how can that be a name??

According to my sources, it simply means "black". Pretty dull etymology, but I like the name alright. I've known a few Coles who were pretty cool.

The first fellow to buy me a dozen roses was named Cole. I never considered there to be anything odd or plain about the name.

Cole derives from the word coll which means Hill and indicates the person lived near one.
