She is from Taiwan and I am from the states. She is very close with her family and they are very important to her. I do not speak Chinese and trips there are out of the question at the moment, so I have no real way of clearly communicating with them. They have also made it clear that they would not approve of her being with an American. Although she doesn't feel the same way, she wants to respect her parents wishes as they are only trying to protect her. After college is over she doesn't know what to do, and neither do I. If she goes against her parents she risks serious repercussions. She is afraid it isn't practical and we won't be able to make it work. What can we do? We love each other very much, but I don't know if that will be enough to keep us together.

family is family no mattter what country you are from. communication and respect are the keys to a good relationship. show her family . send them pictures , send a video , send letters, let them know how much you love and care for her. i am an american that is married to a beautiful woman from the phillipines. her parents didn't really want her to marry an american. but she did and with their blessings after i showed them and proved to them how much i loved their daughter and respected her. always remember love has no boundaries.

I know the asian culture, I think she respects her parents a lot as she's chinese girl.
If you want to make it works, why don't you go to Taiwan with her and learn her language. It's not good only for your relationship but Chinese is also one of the powerful languages in this world. Her parent would give you more respect if you can speak their language. They would know that you love her for real.
After the approvement from her parents, you two can go back to work in the states. And now!! you can speak chinese, you can get better job!! and live with your love!!

it is not that difficult as it sounds. She should go and find a stable job, then stay in states. So her parents can see her achivement. At the mean time, you should show your loyalty and respect. If you mean you love her, start learning simply chinese. So her parents will know your are serious. depressing isnt it? im in the states and my girlfriend lives in Canada we do both speak english but it makes you feel crappy wondering if it will ever work or crying every night because you want to see them but cant just walk there ugh...
