there are white slaves too.....the world is a big place and bad stuff happens at a lot of places....

Sitting real pretty for a change since the free work of slaves has built this country phenomenally economically and in terms of its infrastructure--yet they have been able to share in almost none of the accumulation of wealth and non-tangible advantages their work gave/afforded the white population even to today.
Besides, that 'old boy' network still lives, though we like to pretend in this country that we are color-blind and have advanced socially, when whites are afforded incomparable advantages and social power still.
I wouldn't be happy or proud if whites were the slaves. In fact, I would be ashamed. It was and still is today (through economic and institutional racism) an ugly thing and no one should be subjected to it.
But, I must say and have no problem admitting, that to finally have the shoe on the other foot and MY shoe feeling comfy and cozy for a change...that might feel just fine. My life would be soooo radically different in terms of its quality and success and, yeah, that would suit me just fine--for a change.

The slave trade went both ways, there were white slave.
Infact there is still a thriving white slave trade, where seedy men take white women, drug them and ship them off to other countries to be slaves, prostitutes.
Watch the news sometime, ok.

well considering the fact that I am white, and my ancestors were slaves probably just the same as I do now.

I'm white and Scottish and my people where slaves at one time to the English. I feel proud that my people rose above it and kept there dignity throughout. I in no way feel i have to go on about it and constantly resent the English for it. Its history and i live in the present.

you're kidding right? you haven't heard of white slavery? every time some white woman on vacation in the Caribbean gets kidnapped the news starts talking about white slavery. the world is very big, and slaves come in all colors esp today.

Ever heard of "surfs" They were white slaves over in England way before there were black slaves in the US.

there have been millions of white slaves throughout history, so I guess my feelings wouldn't change.
Do you realize that a lot of American companies like WALMART do business with Asian companies who have slaves? this is happening today, it's current, not history. How do you feel knowing that?

There have been and are "white" slaves. Slavery has nothing to do with "race," but rather of the subjugation of one group of people to another.
