What type of iPod is it? My iPod mini does that all the time. You may want to look at iTunes or your computer and see if you can "eject" the iPod. On my mac there is an eject command.

You can also check the Apple website for troubleshooting. I've listed a few sites below - look for info that applies to YOUR iPod, as the instructions can be different.

Good luck!

Maybe you don't know how to put music in an iPod yet, since you just bought it. Install iTunes, run and connect your iPod, and do what you have to do. I suggest create a playlist then put your songs in it. Then select your iPod in the software, then click Autofill and select autofill from: "the name of your playlist". Then wait a bit for the songs to upload, after it says iPod update is complete, click eject iPod and then use it and enjoy! Hope it helps comrade.
