I've taken a gamble on many, and some have turned out aces. Many have not. My students are usually my biggest gamble. It is very difficult to decide to what extent to become involved in their lives. For example, it is very difficult to watch a neglected teen walk around in minus forty degrees Celsius without a jacket. I bought one for a kid last year and he sold it. Guess what? His mom 'needed' tobacco more. It is frustrating. The kid did not let me down. But it hurts to watch people hurt. Especially those who lack the age to be able to make their own decisions.

I guess what we have to remember is that the gamble is worth it. Any gamble is a gift, and should be offered as such. Once accepted, the use or care of the 'gift' is literally out of our hands. We just have to keep giving... and hoping that we manage to influence a few good things.

I tend to rush into relationships without thinking...

I gamble my love, affections, care, kindness...

And one relationship (my marriage) lasted 3 years.

But what can be considered gambling...?

Dammit, i'm all confused now, lol...

All i can say is that most of the time, it has been worth it.

One girl I randomly met at the library. I smiled and she smiled back. That was a big gamble for me!

My husband. He has certainly been worth it. He came from "the wrong side of the tracks". His family is .... well .... different let's say...but HE is awesome. Some fruits do roll far from the tree...though it doesn't happen often, it does happen. So glad I took a chance on him!
