friend, but i don't want it public. only certain people to view it. You know almost like one of those cites that you have to pay to see stuff on it. I know it sounds perverted, but its not. But in that kind of ball park. Any help or advice, or do we have to go to a pro to set it up. We are pretty good with computers, but just need to instructions on how to do it. thanks so much! and really it's not what it sounds like.

For one thing get Microsoft Frontpage to create the website.
Two, you will have to get a web-hosting company to host your website for you, and you will have your own domain name, example www.nameofsitegoeshere.com
They will give you the option to make your website password protected, meaning everyone who visits the website will have to provide a username and password.
Give the username and password to the people who you want to view it, and that's pretty much it.

You will have to make a website using ASP, ASP.Net etc. For this you can use Visual Studio to start making your website. You should know how you want payments. If you are using paypal, visit the site and obtain details. Do a research on developing electronic commercewebsites.
However if you have no programming experience this may be difficult. Your best option could be to use a free service on the internet that has registered users to access it only.

go make a free myspace page. you can make it COMPLETELY private and secure, allowing NO one but those you select to view it. Don't by the MEDIA hype about myspace. It is a terrific site for that sort of webhosting you desire. Free and safe. Fear is the only thing to be afraid of. Happy trails. PEACE.

if you want it to be made for free ive tried many differet free site makes and found www.freewebs.com to be the best and easiest to use if you want to make the website private you might have to pay tho im not sure but they have photo album pages, blogs and you can post polls on it and a lot more.

if you want to make website for free then its almost impossible to make it secure. if you can pay then it will cost you atleast $20 and you will be able to get your own domain name and hosting. in your hosting you can make password protected directories and can make separte password for all of your friends, one who have password can view these pages.

if your host lets you use PHP, add this to every page:
$ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];
if ($ip != xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx || $ip != xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx){
header("Location: http://www.google.com");
}
?>
replace the xxx's with your and your friends' IPs which you can find at www.whatismyip.com
Once you do that, anyone who isnt on your or your friends' computers will be sent to google.
