I think it largely depends on how you would plan to spend that week in Europe. I believe I could make the week a more memorable experience than the university convocation would be, but a lot depends on how you view that convocation.

I missed my university graduation ceremony because I was stationed in Japan at the time. I never felt that was a great loss and I did enjoy my time in Japan.

University. Europe will be there when you want to go back. Miss the convocation and you may regret it for a very long time.

For me, i will choose to go for the university convocation because all the friends will graduate and they have their lifestyle after working and hard to gather together again for a meal or travel together. So, the convocation is the last and beautiful moment to be memorized. And for travelling in Europe we can arrange and plan our time to go and can go anytime if we are free to go to, but for convocation just a moment in a life time for you and your friends.
