In a nutshell, yes, Israel is a legitimate nation. In another sense, you could state that it is the only legitimate nation in the entire Middle East, as it is the only one that values and allows freedom of thought, freedom of expression, freedom of religion, etc., etc., while its neighbors are to varying degrees stuck in centuries past.

For all practical purposes Israel is a legitimate nation because they are recognized as such by most nations and they do the things that legitimate nations do (participate in the U.N., send athletes to the world olympics, have import/export laws, etc).

Who are you to consider that Israel might have to defend its right to exist? Do the 22 Arab states have to justify their existence?

Jordan, Pakistan and Iraq, for example, were never "states"--they all found the cartographers' pen by being "created and legitimized by external powers."

Israel, on the other hand, existed for centuries.

Israel is the only Jewish state in the whole world. The Arabs have 22 states. The Arabs are not wiling to accept a Jewish state in their midst.

Israel thought that by leaving Gaza entirely in August 2005, that the Arabs would get their act together and develop their economy. Instead, the Arab have seen fit to launch thousands of missiles at Israel's civilian population, intending to kill as many citizens as possible.

Israel, on the other hand, is trying to live in peace. When they do attack, it is with the clear objective of silencing the Arab terrorists. By international law, Israel is totally justified in its quest to protect its citizens. The Arabs are in total violation of international law by unprovoked attacking of innocent civilians in Israel.

The Palestinian Arabs could have had a state already, if they only behaved like civilized human beings. But they have proven time and again that they are not ready to behave, and so the Arabs will have to exist with "only" 22 states.

Legit for sure, fool. When Islam arrived 1,400 years ago, Jews were in Israel 3,950 years ago. Jews have always been in Israel ( there has never been an instance when Jews were not in Israel). Also if you dont believe in this, Israel's victories in all its wars prove legitimacy.

If you mean recognized by the UN, Yes. If you mean do they have a right to be there, it is land that was owned by the British at the time and given to the Jews. Jews have lived there since before Muslim was even thought of and there has always been a large Jewish population in that area.
