I do believe the US would be quite a bit different if Canada never existed. The whole history of the United States would change. Canada played a major role in the exploration days, and was often used as a compromise when the US tried to gain more land. The acquisition of some of the land that would later become states might never have happened if Canada did not exist. On a slightly more humorous note, Whose Line Is It Anyway wouldn't be as funny without the Canadian jokes about Colin.

America would have more fresh water and the South would not have lost the Civil war because Canada wouldn't have existed to supply the North with horses and wheat. Oh, and we wouldn't have burned the White house in the war of 1812.

The folks in Michigan here wouldn't have had to gripe about them sending thier trash here to be buried - and we wouldnt have had had to be upset that our government endorsed the idea
