Don't. Start by breaking the space barriers. Normal minimum space between a guy and a new girl is 18 inches, easy to reach out and touch her on the shoulder when she says something cute or smart, then a little more touching and watch for her reaction, just because you are in lust doesn't mean she is. Also remember candy is dandy but liquor is quicker. If you are getting a good response, wait till she says something really cute or smart and kiss her on the forehead, at some point kiss her on the lips, but a peck, not open mouth, at this point you should have a pretty good idea of the reaction, if it's good, do another peck and keep your face close, like 2 inches and look into her eyes liike you are just realizing that you really like her and go for her tonsils.

But, be mentally prepared for any sort of acceptance or rejection, since generally friends cannot be so intimate. It can be very difficult or rewarding if it is a same-sex friendship.
