I'm assuming OUTSIDE PIROUETTES. if ballet - concentrate on placement of supporting foot - make sure the heel is locked into place, forward, so your foot is strong and your weight is solid on the ball of the foot. If you sickle it all, you will not have the foundation necessary for multiple turns. Then - pull up from the knee but press DOWN through your foot. keep hips in place, make sure both are even. support your back - pull abs in, press shoulders down, keep arms in correct position and centered. (you can practice centering by pressing palms together as you turn, keeping hands directing in front of breastbone.) spot, of course. Important: lock the passe in place and make sure to actually put your toe ON THE LEG - either front back or to the side of the knee, which creates a solid turning mass. BREATHE (also very important). Be aware that you can control how many turns through your upper back - using the shoulder that leads to help move you around. Most of all - don't stress, just do it. my teacher used to say - you have to do 5, 682 bad turns before you get a good one. (she was teasing, but at least it put things in perspective!) Same advice for jazz, except of course your passe is parallel.

I learned how to do a double piroutte just by practicing over and over again. I just started a few months ago and I can already do a double. To do a tripple is a little more difficult. When you spin make sure you spot and make sure that you pull in your stomach to help yourself stand up. Plus when you do your prep position make sure you weight is balanced. Don't try and spin around really fast or you might fall. Go slowly. To help you spot focus on one thing on a wall in front of you or even better if your studio has a mirror, focus on your face and stare yourself in the eye, Try to spot something above your head or at eye level, To hold yourself in a posse make sure you suck in your stomach and hold your arms like you are holding a beach ball. When you practice pirouttes start with just holding it for an eight count. Then practice singles and try to make them perfect. Then move onto a double and then so on. It takes a lot of practice. It took me a couple months just to do a pretty bad double.

Good luck on doing pirouttes! I hope my advice helped =]

when u do a pirouette u have to have strong arms, spot, and a good supporting leg.u have to remember to stay on balance and your arms are going to help u with that.when u do a pirouette u have to make sure your arms are strong and at shoulder level same with your hands.have your elbow bend but have it point to the side not downwards. your arms should name an ovalish shape.before u do one remember to plea on fourth position then turn.move your head quickly in order to spot and remember to spot in the same area.

here is something u can do:
1st balance on the pirouette position for a few seconds then switch legs .
2nd do a 1/4 of a pirouette 4 times then switch legs.
3rd do half of a pirouette 2 times with each leg
4th do 1 pirouette with each leg
5th do a double with both legs
optional to do a triple or more

u can also work on your passe turns to help u

get on the ball of your foot and spot something. just concentrate on the object you`ve spotted and turn, not your legs, but mostly your arms. that moves your whole body around. it works for me...
