I know I can order the DG phone offline but, I just signed up with cingular and got a pink razor. I have 30 days to return it and get a new one. But does anyone know if cingular even carries the gold DG razor? If so, do I just buy it and then bring it into the cingular store and have them activate it? How does that work?

Cingular doesn't sell it but they don't have to. The beauty of GSM (vs Verizon/Alltel/Sprint's CDMA) is that your account activation is not tied to the phone but to a tiny smart card called a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card in the phone.

You need to make sure you D&G is unlocked (one sold for T-Mobile will be locked to T-Mobile unless the seller had it unlocked). If a phone is locked, it'll only work with SIM cards from the carrier it was sold for (this protects the subsidy) and preferably unbranded (this means it runs the generic Motorola software instead of the T-Mobile software - not critical, but it opens up more features).

Ebay should find you an unlocked and unbranded Dolce and Gabanna v3i at a reasonable price. Check the feedback. When it arrives, simply pop the battery off your current phone, pull out the sim card, pop it in the new phone and you're set as long as you don't use data.

If you use data (WAP, MEdia Net, MMS) look here for setup information:

You should check with Cingular directly, especially before you buy a phone from an outside source. Sim cards and software are often proprietary, so you could end up with an expensive paper-weight. Also, be very careful about purchasing from anyone other than an authorized retailer, as you may be buying counterfeit item (sometimes these items are dangerous, i.e. faulty batteries) or a used item. I looked at the Motorola official site and it gives specs for this item and specifically says:

"Always contact your service provider about feature availability and functionality."

All in all, I don't really see why Cingular wouldn't work with you, but I would err on the side of caution.

Yes, you can use a DG RAZR with Cingular. The DG RAZR uses GSM, which is the type of network used by Cingular and T-Mobile, so it can be used with either company. Cingular doesn't cell this phone. You'll have to purchase it elsewhere and then call Cingular to activate it.
