First off, STOP USING THE ELECTRICAL DEVICE!!! For best results, use a standard hand tool, this will lessen the stripping. Get a standard abrasive cleaner (such as Comet or Ajax), spit on the tip of the screwdriver, then dip the tip of the screwdriver in the cleaner. This acts like sandpaper on the screwdriver, increasing it's grip. If this does not work, you may be able to get a set of Vice-grips on the head of the screw, unless it is a sunken head screw. If it is a sunken (or flush) screw head, then you can get an extractor set from home depot or similar hardware store for a few bucks. You'll be able to use your power tools with that method, lol. Hope I managed to help you. Good luck!

You can use a hacksaw and cut a new "non phillips" screw slot into the screw then you can use a hand impact driver with a bit that fits the new slot to remove it. Yes the power tools work well for zooming along with loose screws but use a hand tool for breaking loose and final tightening and make sure the bit actually fits the screw

Left hand drill bit, or stripped screw removal bits. Check at sears. Also invest in a new set of screwdriver bits for your drill. Good luck and Happy new year!

They make what is called a left handed drill bit and just about any good hardware store will have a set of them. They drill into the screw counterclockwise and eventually will GRAB the screw and turn it out.

You can always tap it, by using a drill bit about the same size as the screw, and drilling through. You might try starting on the opposite side if it goes all the way through.

sears makes a tool that you can push into the damaged slots and reverse the drill so you can drive it back out. also buy a new screwdriver bit for your drill. sounds like the old one was worn out and caused your trouble. good luck and happy new year!!

A damaged screw remover set is a thing of beauty!
As long as you don't mean you need to tap it out that is.
