Mother in laws have a hard time with the younger versions of them selves that there sons choose to marry or be with and i was wondering how come the mother's of the guys most of the time never accept the daughter in law and make her life hell until the son and her split or the mother dies?

I think it has to do with the fact that no woman is good enough for the son. And I also think it is the fact that now the son has someone else in his life and mommy is no longer going to be there for him for everything. Son is no longer depending on mommy for happiness and security, because now there is someone else to do mommy's thing. The cooking, the laundry,being there for him when he needs someone to talk to. I think it is just hard for a mother to finally have to let the love of her life go after all these years of him depending on her for everything.

This is definitely a stereo-type. I love my mother in law. She is wonderful. We get along famously. My son is married and I regularly hang out with his wife alone. You need to reorient your thinking.
Some mother in laws are a night mare NOT ALL and some daughter in laws are the nightmare that brings the worst out in the mother in laws. It is normal human relations that incidence of both successful and failure relationships exist. I hope you can take care of your universalizing because you are wrong. Sorry but it is true.

I have a new daughter-in-law and she is wonderful. I love her dearly as she has made such a difference to my son. Have you ever thought that maybe your mother-in-law problem is because of your attitude towards her and not the other way around

That Mother-In-Law steryotype is over-rated. At least most mother-in-laws I know aren't like that, maybe your choice in girls are bad, or maybe she just loves you to much and still thinks any woman is good enough for her son and he deserves better or something?

well i am one of the few who's mother in law loves them. but i think it is hard for moms because they think that their sons deserve the perfect woman.

Because they think she replacing them. She used to do thing for you and you used to be around all the time and now, you're with her all the time and they don't get to do whatever they used to do for you.
