Emily P- "what if your baby wouldve found the cure for aids or cancer?!?!"

-There are "what ifs" in EVERY situation no matter how minor or major it is. You can NOT justify something or say something is wrong based on "what ifs".
Here is a question I have for you, pro-lifers: "What if the baby would've been the next hitler?"
...Once again, MY argument WINS.

I think its a big issue because people need something to argue about because they are bored. We have people in this world who feel like every issue no matter if its personal or not should be discussed. The issue of abortion is a personal decision between two people, what right is it for an outsider to be involved in someone elses personal life.

I am 38 wks pregnant and pro choice i think if a women doesnt want to have a baby then she shouldnt be forced to just because someone else says its immoral. For those who say god says its immoral and wrong, he also says he will judge us when we get to his gates.

Because some believe that the baby is a human being from the moment it is concieved and therefore if aborted purposefully is considered murder. We have all heard the argument that it is a woman right to do what she wants to her own body. The retort I have heard to that statement is that it isn't your body you're messing with. It's another persons body - it's just inside yours. It's a tough subject for alot of people - it has politcal and religous undertones, which we all know are hard for people to talk about without getting defensive. Oh and I think the extreme pro-life and extreme pro-choice make it a little difficult for the rest of us. Personally, I'm pro-life but I will not stand beside someone who will blow up a clinic. And, I will still love and be there for my friend if she chooses to have an abortion. I might wish she didn't but I won't love her any less because of it. I am a Christian and Jesus said to walk the walk and so I will. Yes, I believe we will all be judged by God and I believe my friend will be judged for her actions, just as I will be judged on how good of a friend I was to her in her time of need and also in the fact that I did not judge her. That's not my job. I think the abortion issue just has so many different issues all wrapped around it that make it so controversial. Sometimes, I just wish people would be more tolerant. But tolerance I think is even tougher for people to handle than abortion. That may very well be what it comes down to - a lack of tolerance.

Abortion is such a controversial issue because people have strong firm beliefs about it.

Most people when asked about abortion either are very passionately against it or they believe that it is a choice people should have the right to make.
Most people, this is a generalization (as not everyone is the same), are not in between or indifferent on they way they feel about it. The majority is either for or against.

And as with any topic that people are passionate about both for and against, it then becomes controversial.

We don't want to oversimplify the issues, but... briefly...

Because it is a question of the value of human life.
When does human life begin? At conception? After the first trimester?

If we believe it is early, at conception, then for a society to promote abortion, such an act is tantamount to murder of the innocent unborn.

If we believe it is later, then abortion any time prior to that cutoff point is not really an issue.

The "choice" matter is a different question and different aspect of the controversy.

Why Is Abortion Controversial

2016-11-09 00:50:55 · answer #5 · answered by malinowski 4 · 0 0

Everyone chooses to believe what they want about when life begins..most of that being based on religion and upbringing. The people that believe life begins at conception are obviously against abortion, and those who believe that life begins at birth or that a child is a part of the woman until it's born..believe in a woman's right to choose.

It's funny though, if you ask someone that's pro-choice they'll tell you that whatever you believe is OK..but if you ask someone that's pro-life, they will tell you that you're a murderer and going straight to hell if you ever even THINK about abortion.. It's all about being open minded.

People who believe life begins at conception or even somewhere else during the first two trimesters believe it is killing a human - and so see it as a very big deal.

People who believe it isn't a big deal don't understand the controversy.

That's why its controversial. One point, though, there are a lot of things that have been done since the beginning of time that aren't necessarily the best things.

Because an abortion is the ending of a life. It is a debate between the right of the woman and the right of the unborn child. Personally, I do not agree with abortion. I do believe that it should be available to rape and incest victims as well as in the case of medical necessity. I do not believe that any woman shoudl have the right to unlimited abortions as she does today. Unlimited abortions leads to the use of abortion as just anouther form of birth control. Morally, I believe that is wrong. I understand that people make mistakes and a young woman should not have to be forced to live her entire life with the hardship of one mistake, but their is a limit. Reasonably, I believe that if their is to be abortion, that the unborn child should be given to medical science for the betterment of mankind and that their shoudl be a reasonable lifetime limit on the number of abortions a woman can have without medical need or outside of the case of rape or incest. It is medically dangerous to use abortion as a method of birth control. The more times it is done, the more complications arise. That is medical fact.

Because the people who oppose it consider it "murder" despite that they are the same ones who complain about a certain generation. They don't seem to realize that without abortion more and more unprepared individuals become parents and preduce today's negleted and troubled children.
