First of all, during her marriage she was not happy, and that is a important thing to consider, because everyone wants his marriage to be a happy one. As far as Princess Diana being a victim is concerned, there are many suggestions about the cause of the "car crash". People who know what they are talking about suggest it wasn't only due to the "driver's fault".

Actually, I don't really think of Diana as a victim, because she went into the marriage willingly, and I think she was simply swept away with the notion of marrying a Prince. I doubt that she really loved him that much - probably more of a naive infatuation "first love" thing. She was an inexperienced teen caught up with the idea of fairytales. I know how I behaved with my first love, and it was pretty similar. I think Charles and Diana were both victims - firstly Charles who was not permitted to marry his ladylove and Diana, because she was an innocent girl roped into a sham. But on the other hand, Diana was not a victim because she enjoyed the wealth and fame she married into. She loved being a fashion icon and doing so much work for charities etc. Monarchies are insane in my opinion.

Charles cheated first.
folly by the fool-
First you list several reasons why Diana WAS a victim, then try to sweep it all by saying:
"But on the other hand, Diana was not a victim because she enjoyed the wealth and fame she married into."
As if you wouldn't enjoy wealth, whether you inherited it, won it or earned it! Even during hard times people still get whatever enjoyment they can out of their lives. The fact that Diana was miserable in spite of being rich and famous, means that she didn't put much merit into that. What she wanted early on was to be loved by her husband. As for fame--I think it's safe to assume that almost everyone thinks they would love it. I hope Diana enjoyed some of that. But, I don't think it's all it's cracked up to be. No one knows what that's truly like until they experience it for themselves.

Both Diana and Charles were unfaithful to each other. He first with Camilla.
I think most of the royal family are indeed victims of an antiquarian system; however, if the English want this then it is none of our business.
It does seem odd to me that whomever marries a royal is expected to be little more than a brood sow or stud to produce offspring. After that, little value. But then again, as I said before, it's whatever makes the English folks' boats float.

Lets see she was a 19 year old virgin when she married Charles, who was admittedly in love with Camilla even then.
Charles did try with her but, he never loved her as he called Camilla even on their wedding day. It doesn't matter who cheated first, he was openly cruel to Diana when it soon became apparent who was the most photographed and loved one. Reading about when Charles told Camilla he wanted to be her tampon just about made me sick, it must have been worse for Diana. She was too young and he was too weak to break it off with Camilla or tell his mum that he would abdicate rather than marry someone he didn't love. Diana didn't stand a chance from the get go so in effect, she is the victim of Charles's spinelessness.

Funny how people are so easily swayed by PR.
It's easy to be "strong" when you're born with more money than you could ever spend, get the best education, health care, etc and don't even need to get a real job. That's very "strong"

Charles lied from the start, letting her think he loved her, when he actually loved, and had an ongoing affair with, another woman---the entire marriage. He's the one who broke the vows he never intended to keep in the first place. It was wrong of her to then look elsewhere for love and caring, but she was hurt and lonely, and very unhappy.
