Just be nice to the customers...smile and be polite. Don't talk to them forever, most people are in a hurry these days and want to get in and out. Remember that people are going to get mad for reasons that you can't fix. They are always going to want lower prices...so watch it. I worked retail and had a bowl thrown at me on the first day because the lady thought it was on sale. Goodluck.

It's not too bad. Just be friendly. You will have some bad days, but just keep remembering that at whatever time you get off, you are going home and don't have to worry about it anymore. Don't worry about being new on the job either. We all had to learn the jobs that we do. You'll do great. Congratulations.

Retail is HELL!!! Good luck with it. The hard part is not getting pissed and yelling at the customers. I worked retail for over a year. It's a good starting point till you find a good job.

I have worked retail for five years...I hope that you have patience, because some people have no respect for anyone behind a register. Good luck.

Congratulations! I worked retail for years and my only advice is to be polite to every customer but don't accept abuse from them. You are not their servant.
