I have a cheaper mp3 player that won't recognize wma files that i transfer to it unless it's connected through the USB and playing over the media player on my pc. Is there a program or means to convert the file to a true mp3 file?

Check out FreeRip.com for a freeware application that will convert WMA files to MP3 files.
