Everything can potentially be bad while pregnant - which sucks. I drink soda, probably more than I should, but I cut out coffee so I feel a little better about it. I just look at it this way - drugs are bad, a little caffeine is fine, not good but fine.

There must be billions of people drinking sodas every day. Out of that perhaps a few million who are pregnant or have been pregnant in the past drinking sodas. I never heard of any problems - have you?

It is bad to drink only soda. It is not very good to drink mass amounts of caffiene while pregnant. My solution has been to try to drink more light soda's, less dark caffienated ones and to try to drink more water, more juice etc. However my WIC lady was appalled not by my soda drinking but by my intake of juice. She was very upset with the amount that I drink because she says I should only drink 6oz of juice daily. I think everyone has their own opinions, so talk to a doctor or two, consider their advice and ultimately do what you think is best for you.
There are so many opinions on pregnancy that you would drive yourself mad trying to adhere to everything.
In the end you'll probably do things mostly right as long as you get advice and follow your instincts and common sense.
Good luck.

I too have wondered this, my mum had no problems with any of her four babys and she drunk coffee all the way threw. With me she did not even no she was pregnant till she was 28 weeks and she had coffee and soda threwout.
The most commen thing i have read is not to have caffine or certainly not 2 much. Mayb limit yourself to 1 a day. that way you no how much your intaking but can still have a treat.
ive noticed a lot that everything you read contridicts itself. So speak to your doctor if your really worried.

It's not bad to drink soda, it's bad to drink allot of it and to deprive yourself of more nutritious beverages. My Dr. told me I could have two cups of coffee, well if you convert the caffeine....1 cup of coffee is equal to about 3 sodas. The problem you run into now is all the un-needed sugar, maybe switch to diet and caffeine free if your worried about that. Good Luck!

Its not really that bad, you just need to drink it in moderation. the doctors say its the caffeine that can hurt the baby. but i drink soda and I'm 8months pregnant, sometimes you need anther taste other than all that water.

Yes and No- If it is 1 can a day, you shouldn't have any issues. I drank 2-3 a day and ended up with kidney stones as a result in my 5th month. It seems like every doctor I talk to has their own opinion, but I figure if you are able to, do it! If not, limit yourself and drink water with it.

I was told by my OB that I could have no more than 300mg of caffeine a day. So, if you can find out what sodas have what, then that would be a general rule you could go by. Hope that helps :)
