i really like iron man but i know nothing about him :(

The first answerer had most of the basic details right. Tony Stark was an arms and munitions manufacturer who was touring Vietnam to see how his firm’s products were being used. He was wounded by shrapnel from a booby trap, and taken captive by a vietcong warlord. A noted chinese scientist helped him develop the first Iron Man armor (the warlord had demanded that Stark build weapons for him). The scientist sacrificed his life as a distraction so Stark could escape as Iron Man.

Tony Stark was captured in a war (I think he was a pilot that got shot down) and was forced to design weapons for the enemy. Due to a piece of shrapnel in his chest he had to wear an iron chestplate to keep his heart working. He later designed a suit of powered armor around the chestplate and escaped. He then founded Tony Stark industries, claiming that iron man was his bodyguard. He financed and formed the avengers, became an alcoholic, and now makes really cool gizmos.
