You have a job, your 17. You should be able to 'emancipate' yourself legally. Tell him you'll call social services about the drugs if he doesn't give you your stuff back. If your boyfriend is older that you don't move in yet. It could get him in trouble. Call a local domestic abuse shelter, call a few county agencies, someone has to know the process. It may even be that you could just move right in. You didn't say what state you lived in. Bottom line is you can move out if you follow your states guidlines ... and the courts may even help you ... make him give up the car.

Your rights depend on where you are, but in most places 17 is old enough to decide where you want to live, particularly if you've graduated high school. If you're still in school, KEEP GOING. Don't let this stress stop you from getting an education, it's a down payment on your future, and if this comes to official attention then the fact that you're being responsible and staying in school will make them listen to what YOU want.
You need to look really hard for a job right now, so that if you and your boyfriend can't take living together you're not going to be left high and dry. You're in a tough situation, but you can do this!

Wow you are in a tough spot, There are many choices but depending on where you live depends on weather or not your boyfriend can get in trouble. what I might do is talk to a friends parents about weather they would let me stay there then wait till dad is drunk and or stoned and call the cops and see if they can get you put in the friends as a temp foster child. Better days are coming becareful about moving in with the boyfriend so young.

Yes you could get in trouble because it is running away and chances are your relatives are afraid of your father to let you stay with her.My best advice to you is to talk to the police and tell them that your dad is a drunk and is scaring off your relatives from helping you and you want to move in with someone else.If that doesn't work try to wait a year and when you turn 18 get the heck out of there.

Depends on the state in which you live. You can find out by calling Social Services or Legal Aid (I would choose Legal Aid). Ask them what the laws are in regards to that. In my state the age would be 16, in others it is as high as 21. If your Dad is abusive to you you have a right to call the police on him. I realize that would be hard but if he is driving drunk or stoned he is a menace to society, not just to you.
Have you talked to your b/f's parents? They might also be able to help. I do not recommend moving in with him. There ARE other options.

I think you have to be emancipated in Ohio if you want to move before the age of 18,it is a long process and you will probably be 18 when it is all done, Your best bet would be to wait until your 18th birthday and then get out of there. Good Luck to you.

Don't know about the laws in OH, but in Georgia, you can move out without your parents permission at 17...
If that isn't the case, call the police, talk to someone and tell them you don't feel safe in your house because of the things your dad does. If you are in school, talk to a guidance counselor.
Good luck

Depends upon the place. In India 18 is the age when girls are considered as adult to live with others or marry.
I am sorry to know about the family problem. Ignore everything and concentrate on studies for a year and then live with your boyfriend.

I'm not sure about the State law in Ohio, but in Illinois you are considered an adult at the age of 16. Maybe you could talk to a social worker at school and he or she could answer that question for you. I wish much luck hun!!

I am really sorry for your troubles. I would suggest to concentrate on your job and wait till u turn 18. In the mean time try to get friendly with your parents and make the atmosphere at home better to live in. It will be best for you.
