I know that making a list of tasks and completing them one by one helps. I know prioritizing helps. I know time management helps. I know doing a lot of small tasks rather than big ones helps. Any other ideas? Especially for tasks that are simple, but loathesome (such as going all the way across town just to get my glasses fixed, or cleaning out the fridge).

Break the more loathsome tasks down into smaller components so they aren't as adversive.

Example: Clean one shelf in the fridge each day of the week.

Try to find out why you find certain things so loathsome and "cure" the thought of it being loathsome by coming up with good things about the task. (Like pair a stimulus to a stimulus then to a response.)

I love McDonald's icecream. On my way to the eye doctor to get my glasses fixed, I will stop by McDonald's and get an ice cream. While waiting for my glasses to be fixed, I can sit in my van and eat it. Then go in and pick them up! Stimulus: Ice cream (good) Stimulus: glasses fixed (bad) Response: Good because of the ice cream! :)

Also, try to avoid waiting until you get in the proper "cleaning mood" or "motivated" mood to begin a task. When I wait to get in the right mood to do something it never gets done! :)

tough to ans. cos myself also feeling/ undergoing the same. but consider following-
* procrastination happens when the morale is very low, not only low..
* when everything fails, just give yrself some time, allow yourself to sit ideal, do nothing, just be with urself,
* if possible, do some introspection.. ask Qs to urselves...
* it will help urself to contemplate - abt urself, ur life, will help solve ur internal conflict, priorities will established automatically.. and then....
* one day u will find to ur astonishment that all the rush of fresh energy will come from nowhere n will find urself on ur toe.. with full of abundant energy.. to take the task..

the ans. in nut shell is procrastinate ur procrastination to speed up ur activities..

bye..

make sure that this isn't the nagging of unfulfilled things that can still haunt u from child hood, many people are controlled by buttons that are in them and don't really pay attention to them, they just skip the hassle of trying to dig into their past and find the culprit in their thinking that is playing head games on them

It was suggested to me to be doing something every minute of every day (even if that something was meditation and relaxation). By not stopping once to think about what you are doing or giving yourself time to think about procrasinating it becomes easier to stay on task.

Of course this doesn't work for everyone...

If there's something you need to do tomorrow, do it today.
If there's something you need to do today, start doing it right away.

Tomorrow there will be floods, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes - and you might miss the chance to "do"!!
