It all depends on what you want to experience. Mumbai is the business capital of India. A night train to Goa, or to Gokarna in northern Karnataka will give you two totally different experiences. Gokarna is only 4 hours by car from Goa airport, less than 2000Rs. You will not regret, lots of local friendly people and some westerners, but totally different from Mumbai of course.
