I have just gotten a DS for Christmas, along with the game "Mario Kart." I am eager to play with other people online but I don't actually know how to do that. I've tried to figure it out but I've had no success. Are there other things that I have to buy to make my DS connectable to the internet? I'd really appreciate a comprehensive guide on what I have to do, thanks!

instead of a giving you a website ill explain
you need a internet provider and a wireless router or you can buy a nintendo ds wifi max wich is only about 30 pounds.
With a Wi-Fi compatible game inserted into your Nintendo DS, access the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings screen. Your game manual provides information on how to do this for the game you are playing.

At this point, you have a few different connection options. The easiest way to get connected to Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connection is through the Auto Search function of the Nintendo DS. I highly recommend this method. oh if u get stuck gon the website i put.

While you are getting that sorted out you can of course play any of your friends if they have a DS using the "Local wireless" feature (If you are in the same room as them).
