Yes, you dry your backside by toilet paper after using a bidet, and no, it's not doing the same job twice, you get cleaned better :)

I don't think it's too expensive. Anyone has any idea how much it might cost?

I don't know I've never used one. I have always wondered though if you dry your backside after using the bidet. If so, what do you use? Toilet paper? Isn't that doing the same job twice?

we don't use bidets. very few people have them and the ones that do are extremely wealthy. they must be if they are willing to spend a fortune on something that toilet paper would do a better job at.

but for the record, about 98% of americans use toliet paper and not bidets.

Some places have bidets (usually the extreme upper class). The average American, however, is probably against the idea all together, save for the use in failing comedy television shows as a means for a quick joke.

Absolutely not, a bidet is not only a time waster, it is inefficient.
If bidets were that great , so how come nobody wants them in their bathrooms? They came into "fashion" in the 70s, and died out due to unpopularity.
Todays bathrooms dont even list bidet in any of the fixtures "options".

Not only cleaner but easier to use. Those with broken arms, those over weight ,and those with physical problems would find a bidet easier to use also.

I checked out the meaning of the word bidget. I believe you would find devices like this in the richer homes of America. Sounds like it would be cleaner but most Americans would not be able to afford such a thing. Here it would be considered a luxury. Now I am curious where are you?

If we did then the Europeans would be blaming us for using too much of the worlds water! Or perhaps blaming Cheney for owning stock in a company that makes bidets....somehow, like everything else today, it would be our "fault".

its not in our culture..ok lets see..is having a stream of cold water being shot up ur butt cleaner than wiping with paper?..well who knows, my question is how do you dry urself after using the bidet....airdry?

Probably because of the timber/paper industry which are huge and powerful. THey probably even pay off the toilet manufacturers to NOT market them! It would save billions of trees though so good idea!

this American loves bidets.
