You see, I have a J. Reynolds Orange Wood electric guitar. It is broken....long story. I want either a new electric guitar or an acoustic guitar. I am going to buy whichever one from the Guitar Center. Whenever I check out the guitars on their website, there are sooooo many ones I adore, and it's hard for me to choose.
Should I go to the store, see what ones they have, and buy it?

It would be wise to be able to put the guitar in your hands and play it before you buy it. Its like buying a car without driving it...not too wise. But if you want a particular guitar and they don't have any on hand, find something similiar to try and take a chance. Make sure they have a good return policy first before buying online though. I have bought a few guitars online and I feel I have gotten pretty lucky in picking them. Try MusicYo if your interested in saving some money. I have bought 2 guitars (kramer Pacer and the Focus V111s and both are worth the money) They needed a little setting-up and they play great. Good Luck in your ventures.

I play acoustic guitar and have owned and played many nice ones. By all means, play the guitar first if you can. There are huge differences in tone and playability between individual guitars, even of the same make and model. Guitar Center (at least in LA) has a large selection and lots of stores, so you will find one that "sings" to you .
Good luck!

Without a doubt, go to a music store! And don't only go to Guitar Center. Find a smaller dealer in your area that provides more than a low price. Play, talk, ask and decide what SOUNDS best and FEELS best for you--things you CANNOT DO ONLINE!

Yes, "tree" has good advice, unless your familiar with the ones online, It would be better to buy one, that you see and feel, I've bought some online, but I was familiar and had played that actual guitar before!!

I always like the Fender Stratocaster because it's simple.

goto different stores and play different guitars, what looks cool may be very uncomfortable or sound like crap, find one that feels good and sounds good

I would go to the store because you can't tell how well it plays by looking at it.
