On one hand the entire motive behind the invention of time travel would clearly be to alter past events, although it could be used for less malicious purposes such as observation or getting old supplies or tourism. On the other, who's morality are we speaking of?
It is a given mankind has committed many atrocious acts in its day, but to undo them would also undo 'good' effects these events have created. Whose morality are we operating on? One man's good is another man's evil. With infinite possibilities created by time travel and infinite worlds, good and evil quickly become obsolete terms. In any number of times, the killer could be the victim and vice versa. This would render man a morally neutral creature, which I'm not sure modern philosophy is ready to accept.
By changing the world as you the time traveler see fit, you are usurping the free will of billions of people, playing the role of a God and making the world conform to your moral imperatives. I see this as fundamentally wrong, without choice life has no meaning. If our choices have no consequences on our future simply because a being wills for the future to conform to his or her expectations, our lives are rendered meaningless and our existence is no more than that of a puppet dancing on cue for the puppeteer.
If you prevent World War II for instance and avert the Holocaust, you save potentially millions of lives. But other people's parents never would have met and conceived them if the war had not happened. In effect you kill some people to save others. It's a sticky situation morally, it is something that mankind does not have the capacity or the right to decide.
As for myself, I would only change the past to alter the discovery of time travel itself, by trying to convince its creator(s) that it was too dangerous of a technology. If that endeavor failed, I would do away with the discovery by more violent means.

I invented time travel some years ago. Take my word for it, it's not the good time you might think. What I found out was that all events are realized. I can go both ways, but even the slightest change, changes the futures and pasts. You can never quite get back to where you were----the possibilities are endless in all directions. I've just learned that in this world that Germany lost the second world war. They always win in worlds where I go back and talk to Einstein in 1905 or 6, so I'm going to quit doing that. For some reason, they never invent the Internet, and it takes forever to find out stuff. Yahoo answers is better in some worlds.

Yes, in my opinion we can go back and see what happened in our own eyes but we should not alter the history because, it is a past and we have to respect it. Time travel is a future vehicle and we travel to a past to learn a lesson not alter the even that already happened. History is History. It is over and if you change the cause of history then you change your present as well as the mankind's future.

At first glance at this question I would say yes; however, its not just that simple. I will explain the good and then the bad. If time travel was possible, then we could turn the world back to when the World Trade Center was still standing. We could then prevent it because we would no that it happened. Many lives would be saved. The bad thing is, if you go back a few hundred years, you and me would not be here right now because we did not exist in that time.

I think the balance of history and time should never be tampered with. A single movement of an object can change the world drastically. But then if someone were to go back and save the world from destroying itself in the future. Although they can not tamper with anything else in the past.

They do gender reassignment surgical operation simply by fact human beings decide on it it truly is not something which you in simple terms stroll right into a surgeons workplace and that they're going to do. there's a protracted technique which consists of psychotherapy and greater than a number of alternative consultations in the past the 1st step of beginning hormones is even seen. So it truly is not something that individuals in simple terms leap into it' takes years and it takes funds and if the physician truly cares approximately their sufferers they cause them to choose for scientific look after a minimum of two years first.

Absolutely!!!! Think of all the terrible wars, disasters etc that could be avoided. I don't know anyone that wouldn't turn down the chance to fix a mistake in the past.....even if it changes the future. Put me on the list.

I think it would not be moral and also it would not work because human beings seem to never learn from history. For example, the vertically challenged megalomaniac Napoleon invaded Russia and another vertically challenged megalomaniac Hitler also invaded Russia. Hitler killed 6 million Jews and Pol Pot killed about 2 million Cambodians. the list goe on.....

I would change the time where Jesus made all these rediculous miracles. I would point out the fraud he really was. Then would watch him die and prove that he never came back to life.
