Wow. This question is great. And since no one who can answer will give you an authoritative solution, I will hazard a guess.

I think that unless the body is sleeping, or completely unaware that death is upon them, there can be no such happiness about going down for the dirt nap.

I suppose there are those who face death with more courage than others, so it lessens the impact of death because of a belief structure, but im sure the body tells the brain "hey, you are about to die, so get ready" I dont know about you, but even the most peaceful of deaths would, I believe, have me crapping in my pants.

I would like to die happy. I would like to save someone before I die (how cool would that be?)
If I died having sex would be happy.
or
If I died with a cup of coffee in one hand and a cigarette in the other, that would be happy.
or
Actually I would settle for just dieing quick. No time to be happy.

I truly hope there really is such a thing as Happy Death

Did you see the movie, "The Notebook"?
That was a happy death. That's how I would like to die. In the arms of the man who loves me so much that we die after spending our lives together through thick and thin and still loving one another. What a dream. I guess that's what made the book and the movie so special. I don't know anyone, man or woman, who didn't like the book, or the ending.

i think some people actuallydo-those people are the ones who resolve past pain, regrets, and mistakes. the ones who get the chance to say goodbye and their "i love yous". the ones who have made peace with themselves. Im sure this rarely happens cause life is so unexpected. on a darker note-i think those who are in so much pain due to illness believe they will find peace in death, which regretfully is the case most of the time...death in reality should be a happy thing. we all know we are gonna die eventually and we should have the right and chance to make peace with ourselves and those we have touched during our time here on this earth.

sure.... a wise man once said....

So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart.
Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours.

Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life.
Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people.

prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself.

Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live thier lives over again in a different way. SING YOUR DEATH SONG AND DIE LIKE A HERO GOING HOME.

Yes I believe you can die happy, when you are making love and
you happen to die, due to a heart attack, then you can say he/she died happy and peacefully. I know I would if I had an orgasm before I left this world and that was the last thing I was doing. I would die with a BIG SMILE ON MY FACE!!

For 80% of people, death occurs slowly with one vital organ failing after another. It's painful and scary. In the physical sense, for most the answer is no.

On the other hand, can one feel happy knowing that she or he has lived their life to the fullest and be ready to let go? I think so.

I've not died (obviously), yet I've believed I was dying when I passed out due to smoke inhalation. What I felt was not exactly happiness, but release. I honestly don't believe that whether we are happy or not at the moment of our death matters. Death is a moment in the midst of existence.

Yes, we can die happy when we know we are going to heaven to spend eternity with Jesus. The Bible says he has prepared a place for us - a beautiful place.
We can die happy when we know our sins and mistakes have been forgiven. Life on this earth is to make a choice, and then to help others make the right choice.
Eternity is a very long time and everyone will spend it somewhere.
There is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun.
We are all eternal spirit beings created by God and He loves us so much he wants to spend eternity with us. But he respects our free will and is a gentleman. He waits for you to ask Him into your heart. Won't you do that right now?
Just say this simple prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, please come into my heart, forgive my sin, and give me a new life in You. Thank you for my salvation.
In Jesus' name,
Amen

I believe so, many people see death as the way of ending suffering and pain as they get older and see it as a blessing and have no regrets since they lived a full life.

My grandfather had a mental disease and could not remember his family later on in life. It was so bad that he could not remember even to eat. He was put in a home where he lost mass amounts of weight. He was a skeleton. And I believe that his death was a happy one for him since he no longer had to suffer.
