I was at my friends house last November and we were on her dock. A peice of trash fell in the ocean and she made me get it. I reached my leg out into the water to pick it up with my foot. My knee made a loud crack and I couldn't move. I couldn't walk at all for about 30 min.If I sit down for too long my knee really irritates me and I have to get up and move. Or if I strech it it hurts really badly. I don't know how to explain the pain,it's really confusing.Anyways, this summer my mom took me to the doctor[orthapedic?] and I got an X-ray on my knee. They couldn't find anything wrong with it and then we got an MRI done. They only found a little thing on the knee and they gave me a shot that was supposed to help in a few days. It didn't help at all. It did not make my knee feel any better. I've done an MRI and an X-Ray TWO times. I was becoming frustrated with the doctor. My knee has been in alot of pain. I have no idea what to do now. Please help me. I'm 13 years old. I need help. Anybody

Take your MRI and regular xray films to another orthopedic doctor- but if possible because in your area their may not be a lot of them, find one that specializes in children--- you may have hurt the growth plate which is in all your bones-- it is where your bones grow as you grow-- a regular orthopedic may have missed this and seeing that you are 13 and have pain for so long- it is imperative that you get this taken care of sooner better than later. In the meantime, do not do anything that will hyperextend your knee or twist your knee and if it feels better, apply heat to it.

I can sympathize what you are going through. I hurt my knee in March this year on the treadmill. I don't have any pain unless I twist it or sometimes get up from a chair. I have a hard time using the stairs and I cannot run. I"m 55 years old and out of work. The jobs that I can get evolve long standing, bending, squatting. And I can't bend my leg all the way back to my hamstring.
I lost my health coverage so I am kind of screwed. I know I need a MRI but that might not tell the doctors anything either. Being 13 years old I'm sure you will recover in due time. Just hang in there. Sorry I can't be more help.

My suggestion: An ice-pack on your knee, for at least 30 minutes every night, before you go to sleep. DON'T leave the ice-pack on all night. Something similar happened to me many years ago and this method worked well for me. Apparently, the coldness reduces the swelling and, because you (hopefully) don't exercise while you are sleeping, the swelling goes down even more, during the night. Your muscles firm up. Over a period of time, the swelling (and the pain) disappears. Now, I could be wrong. But, considering you have tried everything else, including seeing a doctor, I don't see how this could possibly hurt. Still, if it does hurt, or feels wrong, for any reason whatever, just stop doing it and see a doctor -- again.

I don't know what to tell you, but I had the same problem. My knee hurt for over a year then one day while I was mowing my yard it poped really loud. it hurt like hell for a minute then the pain was gone and now I have a full range of motion. No doctor could tell me what was wrong with it and now no one can explain my knee working again.

try doing stretches previously exercising and see if that permits. Ask your physician about ingredients you may eat to help with joint discomfort. tell her what you've tried. 13 year olds should be experiencing discomfort of their bones and joints. that's referred to as growing to be pains. that's why she's writing you off.
