35 Weeks, however, Ultrasound shows baby is 39 weeks?

Last week I went for an ultrasound. According to my intial scan, I was suppose to be due January 18, 2007 which would make me 35 weeks. At the appointment, the tech. told me the baby's abdomen & head were measuring 39 weeks and his approximate weight is 7 lbs 4 oz. My next Dr's Appt is on Friday 12/29, but I'm extremely anxious & uncomfortable. I've been having BH's all month & pressure in pubic area. Anyone have an idea what the next step is? Induce or are they going to make me wait it out? I'm soooo miserable. Plz Advise!!!

It could have very easily been a miscalculation when you were told that you were due on January 18th.

What you're feeling is very normal for the last few weeks of pregnancy and it sounds as if you're going to have a very normally developed baby.

Calculating a due date is always really a "guesstimate" plus there are guidelines to go by to determine "average" sizes at certain weeks. You can be 35 weeks pregnant while your baby's size is what is considered normal for an entirely different time.

There's no reason to think your doctor will want to induce labor at this point.

Don't rush it. They told me my due date on all three of mine and then moved it and I was still late according to the Dr. Babies come when they are ready. Just walk a lot and keep doing those keigle exercises. I know it's an old wives tale but you'll know it's about time when you have a sudden fit of energy and want to get everything in the house clean and organized. It's called nesting.

It's not an exact science, it is a blurry picture on a screen. They told us the head was 18 weeks but the body was 15 weeks, and we ended up with the most beautiful baby girl. You might see her in a magazine!
