in was reading a story on yahoo news on murder and they said one of the main causes are young people who pull guns when they dont get the respect they think they deserve...what the hell? do people really think they deserve respect?

People who want respect need to give it first.
That's what many young people don't seem to understand.

Good question, the first thing I would say is people deserve respect out their age, or how smart they are, or just because your being polite to show them what a great guy or girl you are. But, when you ask do people really think they deserve respect? And, that gets deeper into, it's like did people ask to be born. They had no choice about it. When you look at that question, do people deserve respect. It's a thing that has been engrained into our brain since we were born.

I think people who are genuinely good people do deserve respect. The street people you are speaking of are asking for respect out of fear. But those who work well with others and strive to succeed in life without stepping on others along the way deserve lots and lots of respect. We all need to respect each other in many ways, from privacy, to feelings, to our physical bodies.

People think they deserve respect when they respect themselves, whether the reason is valid or not.
The people who pull guns respect themselves because they believe the gun gives them power. Their repect is misplaced however.

Those people really think too high of themselve. But in both cases of the gunner and victim, both don't deserve respect.
But the victim are at upper hand... cos their family & friends will pay their last respect lolx :X

I think people deserve respect until they show us otherwise. People who use guns instead of their fists do not deserve respect. But in this day and age, I think its foolish and stupid to show disrespect.

Hey! Why do people deserve respect?
Because we ARE people. Just for being.....
Same thing happens with Love; people wants to be Loved = but they forget this is a reciprocal thing .
Love to be loved,
Respect to respected.
Forgive to be forgived.
It's not a matter of deserving it, it's a matter of owning it.

People don't deserve respect, they have to earn it. Unfortunately, just like everything else, people think they should have it without earning it.

In my personal view - everybody has my respect automatically. I really try to live by that principle. However once you lose my respect it is hard to regain it.
All people should be respected when you first meet them, unless you meet them at an occassion where they lose your respect right away.
