I think probably, when humankind came out of thier caves, they started messing up, and ghosts and spirits got the blame. The old "The devil made me do it" kind of thing!!

It human natural to push blame, find excuses, makeup stories and AMEND STORIES!
It always the GHOST in the forest, swamp blahblahblah.
But why when it comes to rain/flood/drought it is God? And not some unlucky spirit? Becos it can be physically see, touch hear blahblahblah. Therefore you can almost conclude that the person is either trying to lie to himself or others.

people seeing things, and it probably being spiritual energy. I'm sure the first ancient dude was pronounced insane. But it originates from it being supposedly "real"

lack of understanding about death and fear of what happens after if there is an after, and on top of that with evil spirits and such you have something to blame your failures on.
