Well, no more than anything else that would destroy a lot of people. They made us watch those horrifying Chernobyl videos in grade 6. I can see why it freaks you out.

everything (above absolute zero) emits radiation to some extent. i think i would be more worried about ultraviolet rays which are more likely to hurt you.

I am. Just don't go near that stuff. Watched some movie where ppl just melted. That's scary.
