Del Mar and La Jolla are the extreme opposite of the ghetto. It's one of the most beautiful places to live in San Diego. The beaches are cleaner and the waves are better there.
You should definitely check out La Jolla Cove, La Jolla Shores, Wind-N-Sea, Torrey Pines Beach, Del Mar beach (obviously), and Blacks Beach.
In La Jolla - (besides the usual tanning, going into the water activities) you can go parasailing, snorkling, kayaking. There are tidepools you can look at. The Del Mar beaches have awesome waves to surf or boogie board on.
If you want more social beaches like party beaches, hit Mission Beach, Pacific Beach or Ocean Beach which is a bit south of La Jolla. But the water sucks (dirty wise and wave wise) further down South.
Enjoy San Diego in March! You're in for an awesome trip here!

Del Mar is beautiful. It's an exclusive suburb of San Diego and very close to La Jolla (pronounced La Hoya). Del Mar is right along the ocean and close to the famous Torrey Pines golf course. People there are very well-off (the average house there is well over a million dollars) but very laid back. The population is around 5,000, so there's not tons to do, but it's literally five minutes from La Jolla and probably 10-15 minutes from San Diego. You can always go to the ocean, the San Diego Zoo, or Sea World. There's also good shopping and excellent restaurants. I would give anything to go back. I'm jealous of you! :)

In order to really help you we'd need an idea of your budget. In the east county some of the nicer areas are Fletcher Hills, La Mesa, Rancho San Diego, Mt. Helix. There are a lot newer houses in South Bay. Some of the higher priced areas are Rancho Santa Fe, La Jolla, and Coronado.

Well my dad says san diego is a very pretty place. You can go to San Diego zoo, Sea world, or Legoland. Also Ghetto means that everyone there makes the same amount of money in that certain area and yes they do.

La Jolla is wealthy. So is Del Mar. Check wikipedia. The incomes are high. Both are coastal and remember LA Jolla having a beautiful beach.
