I just turned 18 so I could take the road test without a driver's education certificate and dealing with all that permit crap. I will be using my sister's 2002 Land Rover Discovery. Any tips?

I have been a passenger my whole life. I seen how people drive. I'm very confident in myself. I could do this. Right pedal is gas, left is brake. Turn the wheel to where you want to go. Simple stuff. I am very confident in myself.

Ever watched a champion tennis player. Looks easy don't it. Even a moderately skilled person can make driving look easy. The finer points of the task take a bit of time to pick up. Odds are your going to get whipped. Only tip is to go for a spin first.Could you let us know when? Confidence is no substitute for competence

Umm, not to burst your bubble, but you are going to fail that road test miserably unless you bribe the DMV/DOT officer. Esp. in a Land Rover.

Practice, even if it's in an empty parking lot, behind the wheel before trying to take the test. Ideally, you'd get some road experience too but at least know what it's like to quickly transition from acceleration to braking and steering response. Learn how to park, back out of a parking space, turn on wipers/signals/headlights, 3-point-turn (some people call it y-turn), changing lanes, and possibly how to parallel park depending on your state.

Please don't test without practicing. Driving is harder than it looks (I used to think it wasn't until I started driving). If not only for your and the officer's safety, also for the safety of the people on the road.

I would say practice with a friend that is a driver straight away! Don't take the test without having been behind the wheel at least once...

I think the most important thing to do during your test is to be an "alert driver" - check your mirrors, make sure you're buckled in, look both ways before going - thats it!

Just stay calm and you'll do fine - good luck!

A motive force's license is amazingly person-friendly to get interior the U.S. decrease back interior the Sixties, like maximum childrens then, I took a motive force's ed type in college that allowed us to get the feel of operating a motor vehicle, and then exceeded the line try the first time. The written element of the try replaced right into somewhat of cake too. and considering then, each and every time i have moved from one state to a unique, i have been required to take the written try for that state. yet i have stumbled on that's not even necessary to study the guide, considering basically about all questions are a count number of elementary experience. And once you've taken a utilizing try once, they parent there is not any think about asking you to attempt this back. until eventually you get to be elderly, and then they favor to attempt your means each few years. yet I under no circumstances heard of an elderly man or woman flunking the means try. until eventually I moved to the small city the position I now stay. And actual one of my associates, an historic female who did not see or listen or reason very obviously (she believed that Franklin Delano Roosevelt destroyed u . s . a ., and she had severe hopes that Dan Quayle may by some ability change into president because she concept he replaced right into a fine looking philosopher) flunked the means try 5 circumstances in a row. yet by way of the indisputable fact that is an "previous shaped" community the position human beings are extra in touch with "being large" than observing the regulation, they gave her the license besides and she persevered to force numerous extra years. fortuitously she did not kill all of us. They determined now to not damage her thoughts with the help of telling her she replaced into too decrepit, because her mother and father were between city's earliest settlers that arrived from the East in lined wagons. and she herself were city's first telephone operator. which provides you you with some theory of her age.

The best tip I can give you is that you had better practice driving before you try to take a road test. Driving is not as easy as it sounds and it is just like anything else that you do: You have to learn how to do it and you are not going to learn everything you need to do or not do from driving one time. I really hope that you consider this before you go and fail that test.

Don't drive stupidly like most guys do when they first get their license and start driving. In high school, most of my friends were all over the road and accelerating unecessarily. That's very dangerous. There's no reason not to drive safely. Safety is the most important thing with driving because you're in control of a 1-2 ton object that can kill people.

Practice is keyword. Watch out for stop signs.

But why do you want to take road test without ever driving a car? You need to practice first before you go for test.

Study the manual very hard and remember the rules. Don't run stop signs, don't take the corners fast, yield at left turns, just follow the basic safety rules. Good luck! :0)

I suggest taking the car out a few times to get a feel for it. Maybe even getting some instruction from a school or your parents or sister. Whatever you do you should practice before.
