i was an antique dealer and sold this many times, the most glorious was an English oil painting done against the cliffs of Dover one coming in and one going out, the colors and work of the old masters were a prize and the piece was a discard from vandalism to a museum, we are a nation of people who actual live on an island here everyone else lives in Europe and we are off on this island in the middle of the oceans, so i sold many men these types of art, they have a way of capturing the imagination of the on lookers, you may enjoy antiques they are a world of no equal, you may have forgotten because u were in awe of the depth and complexities of antiques shops

Art Antiques represent priceless old importance..maybe a friend, family member, and old boyfriend or lover.

Ships are very romantic and so are antiques so I am going to aim toward a relationship with a girlfriend or boyfriend.

Its a Picture of Two Sailing Ships

You have it framed in your dream, Yes? Which means you though you had a perfect image of how the relationship should of gone but then you say they are saling...on a voyage...traveling ships...two relationships that are romantic at which cast shadows upon the water leaving their marks in the moodlight. But since you said sailing..It didn't work out. The artist name on the painting is an impression of the relationship that has been left on your life. You still have feelings for someone in your past but its unclear since you can not remember the name. It just means that since the name is unclear..you were in love with the ideal of him or her or the way you were treated by that person..not necessarily the person themselves. When you dream of an person, animal or an object, I believe that item or person represents you as the person who is dreaming. So there were two ships..One you and One of the other involved in the relationship.

Since it was framed..Your expectations hold that relationship in a Picture Perfect Mind Set which are are "searching" or on a voyage for once again.

Your heart and your soul are searching for its soul mate.

The Journey Begins...You just have to watch the signs.

Since most dreams are really about ourselves in one way or another, my interpretation of this dream:
The two ships represent you and your soulmate on a voyage searching to find eachother. Perhaps you thought the name of the artist would be the name of your soulmate and that is why you can't remember. There are some things we weren't meant to find that easily because it is up to us to recognize when we see it.

really the only person that can interpert your dream is you. dream books and websites dont work because the symbolism in dreams is a reflection of what is going on in your own life. but i'll give you some ideas.. maybe the ships symbolize you moving on with a part of your life. maybe the art antiques symbolize revisiting something in your past? just some ideas.. but really only you can figure it out.

to interpret a dream is to also know the person whom i am interpreting for. I do not know you.
But, as for the meaning of my dreams, i have found that the best way is to actually voice the dream out loud by myself, or to a friend. Dreams speak to us in picture metaphors, so to put it out in front of our heads in a voice form, it makes it easier to interpret, since the whole mental action of transferring a metaphor to a concrete thing (such as voice) occurs.
It's just like tarot cards.

Basically, it may mean tha you were awakened while in the dream phase of sleep, if not fully awakened, then partiallly, to the point where you can be aware of the thoughts racing around in your mind. For more details, I recommend reading ....
