You are mistaken if you think so.

The reason the put the spire there was to replace Nelsons Pillar which was blown up in 1966.

Politically it was not the time to name it after some Irish patriot/person. Better instead to put a nameless nothing in the centre of the city. Now is not the time to upset the British.

If it looks like the masonic tower it is only a coincident.

The spire is nothing but a big stupid pole in the middle of O'Connel St. It dosn't do anything useful whatsoever. Not to mind anything to do with masonic whoodywatsits or whatever you said.
