First take out your agenda and course outline; start making notes in agenda when an assignment or any papers is due.
Second look at the each week work load and decide how many hour you have to put.( for each credit 3 h min and 6h max, depend in how smart you are)
Third try talking to as many students in your class who study well or keep up with their study. Forming a study group can be helpful.
Fourth never miss your class, even if teacher is boring, going to class make easier to remember notes when you read them. (remembering the example teacher give in class)
And there are other thing you can do like reading chapter before going to class will helps and encourages you to ask question. Talk to your professor as many time as possible. Talk to students who already took the same course and if possible the same teacher. This will gave you the hint of exam and what teacher like and what kind of paper he except.
For paper at least finished you draft in advance, and ask as many question to your teacher as possible.
For exam sleep well before the night of exam, even if you did not have time to read it leave it till next morning.
One personal thing I experience is that it is very hard for me to get up early morning, but when ever I did and study I always remembered that.

There are a lot of different ways to study for tests and prepare for classes... the most important thing you can do is find out what works best for you and what your learning style is. For example, you might absorb the most information by re-writing things (i.e. making notecards, or outlining the chapter before you come to class)... maybe you learn the best by having things read outloud, so maybe reading the information into a small handheld tape-recorder to listen to at a later time would help you absorb the most information. Oftentimes, there are counselors at schools who are hired specifically to help with study strategies and time management, etc. They can help you find your learning style by completing questionairres and surveys which will give you a good starting point. You've got to find what works best for you and doing so before the semester starts is the most ideal so that you can have a plan in place before things start to get piled up or before the first big test.

First, be organized, keep an agenda book with due dates, etc. When studying for a test, have complete and total silence with no distractions, even if it means putting on earphones (with NO music) to drown out any noise. I always re-wrote my notes as a way of going over details, created acronyms to remember things, and broke down all of my study material into sections. I would then have someone call out questions to me on each section as I felt ready. For each successive section, I would have them go back to the first, then the second. For the 3rd section, I would ask them to include material from the first 2 sections as well, and so on. Another important factor is to give yourself plenty of time to study...don't wait until the last minute to study.....you'll be uptight and won't be able to focus as well. In closing, I want to say that each person learns differently, so you should try a variety of study techniques to find what works best for you.

You should try not to take classes in the morning if you can. Also take really good notes and always prepare for your exams one week before the exam. (that is what my lit. teacher told me)

Make sure you come to class prepare.
Do all your assignment, and ask question about those you don't understand.
