Just like any other stage performer to me - some are great some are not!

Drag Queens put a smile on my face. They're out there looking how they wanna look and a lot of the ones I've met exude confidence... Something a lot of women could benefit from learning how to do.

I don't know if they're considered "gay icons." But they probably should be, considering they were instrumental at the Stonewall riot. I had the opportunity to hear a few of the men speak about the riot a few years back and it was phenomenal. And they had amazing stories about the drag queens in the neighborhood at the time and the different ways they confronted hate crimes.

So, the gender-bending dressing might confuse the straighties, and that might make it difficult for them to be gay icons to the world. But credit should be given where credit is due. And drag queens deserve credit.

I like them! I don't know if I'd go as far as to call them 'gay icons', just because I know a lot of gay men who absolutely *despise* them, believing them to be the antithesis of everything they are- not flamboyant or effeminate. Indeed, I agree with them that the media gloms onto drag queens, and that's why people have increasingly messed-up ideas about gay men, thinking that they all cross-dress or want to be women. So I can cringe a little bit knowing how much they complicate the lives of some people. But at the same time, there's no way I would ever shun them- they are a vital, real part of the gay community, and just because some people don't like them or they aren't 'politically correct' doesn't mean they can go away. I strongly believe in upholding all the gay subcultures, and drag queens are one of them.

I like their humor and wit, their lovely costumes, and their sweet strength, although they can be a double-edged sword (a bit b*tchy or catty at times, sometimes just a little too much fabulousness to take in). So long exposure with them might make me cringe, but usually they make me smile.

Really bad drag queens make me cringe (except for Divine, who was pretty funny and became a "gay icon"). I also think RuPaul is an icon (who would have ever believed a drag queen would someday have his/her own talk show!?)

Neither. Drag queens are only funny to me for the first 5 minutes. Then it all gets old and annoying. I don't like the fact that drag queens portray what the "male idea" of a woman is and not what a woman really is. They created a concept in their head of how a woman should be or at least how they think of what a woman is, yet never accurately capture that. I guess they're "entertaining", but like I said, only for 5 minutes.

I am a fag hag, or was in my youth. For the other folks out there, this is a straight woman who likes to be in the company of gay men. I love them! I love drag shows. I have also known some leather gays. (butch, macho). I wouldn't call them icons. Just like with any other group of people, they're all different. They're PEOPLE!.....individuals. No group of people are all the same!

Drag queens are very disturbing to me. I think it's because I'm gay and like MEN, and the idea that they'd want to act like women is beyond my capabilities to deal with. I could like them as friends, but that is as far as it could EVER go. And as icons I don't think they are.

Drag Queens, or men in women's clothes and make-up, make me cringe and make me want to throw-up. That isn't funny. There is something very wrong with a man, that wants to get dressed-up in women's clothes and make-up.

I think they are wildly ebntertaining and I love them,as long as they can lyp sycnh the hell out of a song and put on a good show, or sing themselves, or have talent. Or unless they are so friggin pretty it makes no sense. Then I think they are greta, if they are messes I laugh at them. But yes I still love them and accept them!

Drag queens are good for entertainment.....that's about it. Now, if you're talkin trannies, then I have a mixed point of view. I think most trannies are really creepy.
