go for tracfone www.tracfone.com they're cheap, easy to use, and all the newer phones have loud ringers. the variety of phones isnt as great as verizon or any of those other big companies, but they get fairly decent service and for the price you cant beat it.. i've done the math, its cheaper than all the other prepaid services including cingular, verizon, boost, and virgin. good luck =]
