I was washing a load of laundry containing towels and underwear. During the spin cycle, the washer started to wobble and get out of balance. I tried to rearrange the bath towel, but it didn't help.

So could someone share some secrets with me on how to determine which side is the heavier side, etc? When it's spinning, I can't tell which side is heavy. Besides, there are no landmarks, so there is no way to keep track of which "side" is the heavier or lighter anyway. I have a top loader. Thanks, everyone.

Always mirror what you do on one side on the opposite side. For example, never wash just one pillow. Put one on each side. When I wash towels, I put in 4 bigger towels, one on each side as if it is a square. Then, put in smaller washclothes or hand towels, trying to keep it even. Also, when I am washing something very heavy, like a quilt, I use the gentle cycle, because the spinning is not as vigorous.

I have an older washing machine that my in-laws gave to us when we moved back into a house after havgin lived in apartments. It gets unbalanced all the time and has to be run with very small loads. The only way I've managed to fix an already unbalanced load-usually found when I go out to swap laundry to dryer only to see it hasn't wrung out completely-is to remove an item or two, try to rearrange the clothes and set the timer back to the last fill up cycle. It usually balances itself out again. Sometimes it the clothes just don't sit in it right when you mix heavy stuff with light stuff.

load the washer dry, don't pack the clothes in, they need to be able to move to be cleaned. when the water is full, add your soap. after doing this a few times you will have an idea as to how much is in a load. don't do this if you plan to add bleach. when you have the hang of it you can start with the soap and bleach, then add the clothes after the water fills. also check to see if the washer is level, if it's not level that can cause it to go out of balance easier. if you have really heavy items, like rugs, blankets, or comforters, take them to the laundromat and do them in a front loader. good luck and happy new year!

You just put the clothes going around the washer so each side is the same weight & never over load it

well you can only put three towels in at a time and the lighter things by themself there is no heavy or lighter side of the washer.

You probably get lost going around the block. It is simple , load the clothes so the the weight is equally distributed. Sweatpants weigh more than a pair of undies. Get it?? It is basic laundry. You are a trip. Can you boil water ??
