My family tells me that they would like to see me in other colors besides black and green, but I love those colors. I am a musician darn it. Should I be more open to other colors?

You should do whatever makes you feel comfortable and satisfied with yourself. If you like black and green, and that's all you want to wear, then wear black and green. And politely tell those around you that, while you appreciate their input, you would appreciate it if they would respect your decision to wear what you feel suits you.

You're free to wear whatever you want, but remember that solid black may not be the most flattering. Even hardcore goths (the clever ones anyhow...) understand that mixing and matching colors, and going with a good theme is better than monochrome, especially if you want to be taken seriously in the job market.

If you want to look dark/creepy/mysterious/enegmatic, try the deep, gem colors like ruby red, emerald green, or sapphire blue alongside your black, maybe even a splash of bone or ivory to highlight a specific feature. I tend to stick to one or two articals of black clothing-pants, shirt, jacket, whatever-and then co ordinate the rest to that, such as black pants and boots with a nicely fitting dark blue blouse with a nice deep cut collar to show off pale skin, and pretty necklaces.

Having your own style is good (excellent, in fact) but getting stuck in a rut is bad.

some musicians wear colors, some mix black with color. Look at Billy Joe Armstrong.

Blue is a nice, neutral color like black and green. Maybe that would make your family happy. (That said, there's nothing like a nice white tee with jeans on a musician.)

:)

Sometimes you can get caught in a rut. I love wearing black too, but try something else. This sounds crazy, but brown is a nice alternative. Browns, greens, mixed with black. Start small. I know you can do it!!

You don't have to, but get a digital camera and take some pictures of yourself and then look at them and decide for yourself. I did that and found that at some times other colors would be better

i wear black alot, but I have found ways to incorporate other colors by accessorizing :) I like to wear bright colored scarves and brooches or shoes even. Or even in my handbag. But most importantly do what you need to do in your comfort zone.

Wear what makes YOU feel good but don't get into a rut where you miss out on other things. Try new things periodically! You may like it!
