Avoid the following:
Tomato-based products (ketchup, spaghetti sauce, etc.)
Orange juice
Salad dressings
Coffee
Chocolate (I know it's painful)
Some gravy
Anything else that makes you uncomfortable
Sleeping on an incline might help. If you're carrying your baby high, you might just have to deal with it because the kid is pushing on all the stuff that makes digestion easier.
Drinking lots of water throughout the day, especially before and after you eat something, might also help. It speeds up digestion.
Don't go to bed less than 2 hours after you've eaten anything.
Some over the counter meds like tums might be safe, but ask your doctor first just to make sure. If all else fails, they might be able to write you a prescription for something slightly stronger.

Maalox is pretty good (it's on the list of OTC meds my doctor says I can take while pregnant). You can try Tums -although i don't think Tums are that effective. You can even try Pepci AC or Zantac according to my doctor. I had perscription medicine for it in my first pregnancy. Good Luck!

Mine was so bad it made me throw up daily due to the acid feeling coming up. Yuck. Horrible.
My doctor prescribed Ranitidine, which is also sold over the counter as Zantac. Said to be safe during pregnancy. I couldnt live without it
Ask your doctor about it. I recomend it
(Plus drinking lots of milk helped a bit)

when I was pregnant...I swore that Boston Creme donuts cured my heart burn...lol...oh and a big glass of milk if a donut was unavailable....lol
I suffered terribly with my first prenancy with heart burn and I would make my bf go to Tim Hortons all hours of the night and day for boston creme donuts...lol..
Sleeping with your head elevated a bit ( say 2 or 3 med pillows) can help with stopping heart burn before it starts at night...so I have been told...lol

Ohh, I don't recall, but ask your doctor because the conventional over the counter medications are not all suitable when pregnant.
