Other questions concerning this have dealt with how music is used in retail stores for various reasons. I have question that is slightly different though.

Companies are known to play whole CD's or compilations of CD's during working hours, is it possible, i.e. legal if burnt/burned CD could be used to give bigger variety whilst still being legally viable?

Thanks very much.

No can do! Especially a burned copy it against the copyright and the company can get in big trouble. Ever notice how restaurants write their own "happy birthday" song?" It is so they do not have to pay royalties to the copyright holder. Most places that play music have bought the rights to play it.
