Has any one had a curettage? if so do you get put to sleep and do you have to get one? What do thry do?

You're talking about Dialtion and Curettage...No you don't HAVE to be put to sleep, you can request it but most insurances won't pay for it any longer (I was totally out when I had mine...love them drug! LOL). You SHOULD get one if you've had a spontaeous abortion (miscarriage) Some doctors recommend them if you're having problem periods.

Yes. They are more comonly known as a d&c, and usually performed after a miscarrage. I had one after losing a baby at 11wks. I was put under anethetic and then they expand the uterus with air and scrap away what they have to. I was only in hospital for the day. It leaves you a little uncomfortable but more emotionally upset than anything else.

Do you mean a cerclage? If yes, I have and they do not put you too sleep. You would have to get an epidural..
