The "Tue" of Tuesday is the Germanic god Tiu (also spelled Tiw and Tew according to Wikipedia); the Norse name is Tyr. Since the ancients equated gods from each other's pantheons, the Germanic god Tiu/Tyr was equated with the Roman god of war Mars, which is why Tuesday is named after Mars in the Romance languages (e.g., mardi in French, martedì in Italian, and martes in Spanish), whom the Romans equated with the Greek god Ares.
Interestingly, the word Tiu is cognate (i.e., descended from the same word in a common ancestral language) with the Latin word for a generic god: deus. The word Tiu is also slightly more distantly related to the Greek word Zeus. The Germanic god Tiu played a similar role to Jupiter in the Roman pantheon and Zeus in the Greek one, but of course, the Germans/Norse developed their own legends about him, which you can read in the Wikipedia article on Tyr I included in my sources.

Tuesday is the day of mars. In Latin based languages like French it is Mardi. There is no Tue. The rest of the days of the week are also named after planets or moons.
Lundi - moon day, Mardi - Mars day, Mercredi- Mercury day, Jeudi - Jupiter day, Vendredi - Venus day, etc.

Tue was a German prostitute that wasn't getting enough business. So one day she sacrificied a goat and prayed to Ymir to send her a day that was less busy when she could make a profit. Well, Tuesday has been the best off day ever since to take up business when others are averse.

Tuesday comes from Tiw's day (Tiwesdaeg) the Germanic god of war, or single combat. . The name is related to the name given to the day: dies Martis, the day of Mars--Mars was the Roman God of War, thus the equaivalency to Tiw. Why this day is related to the planet/god Mars is a completely different set of theories.

*rummages through her brain*
Monday-Named for Luna/the moon, derived from northern european "monadaeg"
Tuesday-Named for Tiw, European god
Wednesday- Named for Wotan/Odin the Norse god
Thursday-Named for Thor, ditto
Friday-Named for Frigg, ditto again
Saturday-Named for Saturn, the Roman god
Sunday-Named for the god Sol/Sun/the sun, derived from northern european "sunnandaeg"
The real question should be why did we use a combination of Latin and ancient pagan dietys to name our days.
